May 2020 – Portfolio Update and Initial Reflections from COVID-19

Hey everyone, many major events/milestones occurred recently and I’ve not posted at all because of that. Things are finally settling down and I’m back!

Portfolio Update – First Recession!

I’ve always believed that if you invest in the equity markets for long enough, it’s virtually a statistical guarantee that there will be a 50% draw down on your equity portfolio. Since I’m a long term investor, I will expect my portfolio to have a drop of this magnitude a few times in my investing lifetime.

Having said that, this is how my portfolio’s been doing:

Peak-to-through was a ~40% drop in ~2 months, not quite a 50% drop, but we’ll see. It may fall
