What working a normal job has taught me

It’s about 5 weeks into my going back to the workforce in a ‘normal’ corporate job, that would comprise of most of Singapore’s white collar workforce. At this point in my life, I am actually glad for some consistency and routine, even if having to wake up at the same time every morning isn’t always great. And I definitely feel the drain in leisure time, even though my job already allows me to leave on the dot. Here are some other observations I’ve made about a corporate life:
  1. A lot of work is entirely meaningless and paper pushing. I have never felt it more than now, in a big corporate environment. If people were not so nasty (since my department has some element of customer service), and maybe a bit more conscientious, I think we could retrench about 30% of the office.
