Is The Hang Seng Index A Falling Knife?

Among all the major stock markets around the world, the Hang Seng Index would have to be among one of the worst performers this year.

The Hang Seng Index is the key stock market index for the Hong Kong market. It is a market-capitalisation-weighted index of the top 50 companies listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Even though the index tracks not just some of the largest companies in Hong Kong, many of the largest China mainland-based companies are represented by the index as well. Yet the index has fallen close to 25% this year, from a peak of about 32,700 points to low of about 24,700 points ...
